Status: Playtime at CURSOR
Events for October & November, and a teaser for what's been happening behind the scenes
Dear CURSORs or CURSOR-curious readers,
At CURSOR HQ we love talking about documenting and archiving our work to be able to show and refer back to past events and achievements. However, a long summer break and some life changes for all HQ members means that we’ve missed a few updates. So here’s a slightly long one covering:
A status on CURSOR: PLAY and some of the events we’ve had in August/September
An upcoming sold-out workshop & a teaser for our launch party (save the date!)
A little taste of what we’re working on behind the scenes
As always - we hope you’re part of our Discord channel, which we’re planning to (and have begun) using more, especially for coordinating volunteer work & talking about events. We’d love for the Discord to be the CURSOR group chat, as well as the place to engage with the more organisational aspects if you’re interested.

Upcoming: Machine embroidery at ITU and launching CURSOR: PLAY
First things first: A big thank you to everyone submitting to this issue of CURSOR. Editor-in-chief Maya confirms this is the most submissions we’ve gotten for an issue so far, and we’re so happy that the idea of play resonates with you.
On Wednesday 2 October we’re taking CURSOR: PLAY to ITU where we’ll be co-hosting a collective machine embroidery workshop, working with symbol representations of AI, with our old friends at Ethos Lab and new friends at the ITU Design Acitivity Committee (DAK). The event sold out in just 7 hours, but in case of cancellations, more tickets will be released here.
As per tradition, we’re also starting to plan the CURSOR: PLAY launch party! This time we’ll be doing a more relaxed affair, hosting a lounge-vibe at Villa Kultur on Thursday 7 November. More information will be released soon, but save the date and keep your eyes peeled for the next update…
Bye Bye Summer: Kulturmødet Mors and More Than A Bookclub
We may not have been writing Substack posts, but we, and particularly events lead Mia, have been keeping busy.
Mia started off the post-summer holiday period strong by representing CURSOR at Kulturmødet Mors for a panel talk on screens and their impact in culture and society. Thank you to Maiken Overgaard for hosting the panel and inviting us, as well as Kulturmødet Mors and fellow panelists for being part of the conversation.

This month, we had the first of our conversation circle series “More Than A Bookclub”, a collaboration with Kritik Digital. The event was organised and led by Marie (Kritik Digital) and Mia, and for the first topic we discussed influencer culture. Join the Discord channel to tune into the conversations, see and share relevant texts, and help us pick the next theme! More Than A Bookclub runs quarterly at Ungdommens Demokratihus.
Now what?
We’re still planning more events for the last half(ish) of 2024, so keep your eyes peeled on your platform of choice. Currently, the editing team (Aditi, Iza, Nata, and Maïwenn) are busy preparing an amazing, playful issue, and we’re excited to see the return of designer Marina Cardoso, who also designed the last print issue for Attention!
Simultaneously though, we are currently in the midst of drafting up the first offical CURSOR Articles of Association to become an official association. Once incorporated, all relevant documents/articles will be made public on the website, and we’ll be posting more information about what it potentially means on the Discord server.
And if you made it all the way down here - thank you for reading!
LOL (lots of love)
Anna, CURSORs digital lead
